When Lombardi's plan didn't work, he reportedly fled the scene with the bag of incense.

RESCUED?

Boynton Beach, FL (SafeCITY) - Timothy Pooler, a 63-year-old tow boat captain was charged with boating under the influence when he attempted to rescue a pair of stranded boaters - but ended up towing them in circles for hours.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Pooler was dispatched Thursday afternoon to assist two men whose boat had broken down about 25 miles from Delray Beach.
Investigators say Pooler arrived at the stranded boat's location several hours later than he should have arrived. After connecting the boats together, Pooler then towed the stranded boat in circles for hours.... and hours.
When the sun began to come up the next morning, Pooler finally relented and asked one of the men to drive the tow boat. Shortly after the men commandeered the tow boat, it ran out of fuel.
Because the stranded boat's engine had cooled down, the men were able to get it started again, and ended up towing Pooler's boat for a distance until the engine failed once more. That's when two new boats were dispatched to tow both of the stranded boats back to shore.
All four boats arrived back at harbor at about 9 a.m. Friday morning.
Pooler was charged with boating under the influence after admitting to FWC officers that he had consumed alcohol prior to his shift. He also reportedly admitted to using several prescription medications.

Officers were called Sunday morning and arrived at the couple's home to find Catan-Keeler screaming for help, while her husband held her down with one hand and held a cell phone in the other.

PENILE ATTACK

Fairview Heights, ILL (SafeCITY) - Ashley Alford, a 26-year-old St. Louis woman was awarded $95 million in damages after her boss allegedly whacked her on the head with his penis.
Take a moment and let that sink in. $95 million!
Alford sued Aaron's Inc., a national rent-to-own furniture retailer, claiming that the company failed to take action after a manager sexually assaulted her.
Alford claimed that the sexual harassment began shortly after she was hired in 2005, and came to a head in 2006 when her manager assaulted her with his penis on two occasions.
Alford told the court that the store's manager, Richard Moore, nicknamed her "Trixie" before groping her breasts and commenting about their size. Other male employees at the store also allegedly joined in the harassment, court documents said.
Alford's breaking point came in September, 2006 when Moore approached her from behind while she was sitting on the stockroom floor.
That's when Moore allegedly "removed his penis from his pants and intentionally proceeded to hit Plaintiff on the top of her head with his penis," according to the complaint.
The following month, Moore allegedly pushed Alford down on a sofa in a back room, lifted her shirt and restrained her while he masturbated on her chest.
Alford told the court that she called the company's sexual harassment hotline, but an investigator never returned her call. The suit also states that she was denied a promotion after reporting the harassment.
Moore was reportedly arrested after sexually assaulting Alford in the back room and never returned to work.
Alford reportedly stayed on the job for approximately six more months, but quit when it became apparent that she wouldn't be promoted because she filed the complaint.
Following the trial, the jury found that Moore had assaulted and battered Alford. The jury also found Aaron Inc. liable for negligent supervision, sexual harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress through Moore's actions.
The company dismissed the award as a case of "runaway jury."
"Aaron's is extremely disappointed with the jury's verdict and believes that the award does not accurately reflect the evidence that was presented in this case," said Aaron's spokesperson, Chad Strickland.
The attorney who originally filed the suit for Alford in 2008, Judy Cates, stated that the $95 million award will likely be capped at about $40 million due to federal law.
The company's total net worth is estimated to be $980 million, and earned $118 Million in profit for 2010, according to court documents.

NAKED BIKE RIDE

The fourth-annual World Naked Bike Ride commenced Saturday in dozens of cities around the world - gracing downtown streets with decorative bikes, bright colors and more nudity than you could shake a bicycle chain at.
Several naked bike ride events typically take place each year during the summer months, however, the World Naked Bike Ride is by far the largest and best organized event.
It boasts organized bike rides in 70 cities located in 20 different countries.
In the United States, organizers in about 20 cities participated in the event - with attendance varying from a few dozen riders in some cities to hundreds of riders in other larger cities.
Highest event attendance in the U.S. seemed to be in Chicago, San Francisco, St. Louis, San Diego, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami and Houston.
Other countries that had fairly strong turnout included Argentina, Austalia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden and The United Kingdom.
So what's the goal of all this nudity? The World Naked Bike Ride's main website describes it this way:
"We face automobile traffic with our naked bodies as the best way of defending our dignity and exposing the unique dangers faced by cyclist and pedestrians as well as the negative consequences we all face due to dependence on oil, and other forms of non-renewable energy."
Although the event does not require complete nudity - participants are encouraged to strip down as much as possible and decorate their bodies with colors that draw attention.
Participants are also encouraged to decorate their bikes, film videos and create promotional art of various kinds. Not that anyone shows up to these events to look at someone's drawings.

TOTEM POLED

Ray, Minnesota (SafeCITY) - Carl Muggli, a 49-year-old Minnesota man, has been arrested after he allegedly murdered his wife with a giant totem pole so he could pursue a relationship with another woman.
According to the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the couple's garage last November to find 61-year-old Linda Muggli pinned to the ground with a 2900-pound totem pole laying on top of her. A border patrol agent who was first to arrive on the scene, rolled the giant wood carving off of Linda as she gasped with blood pouring from her mouth.
Although she was still breathing when emergency crews arrived, she died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Carl Muggli told deputies that his back was turned when the giant totem pole fell out of it's cradle and landed on his wife, instantly crushing her.
Carl and Linda Muggli lived in a log home and operated a totem pole carving business about 20 miles south of International Falls (on the Minnesota/Ontario Canada border).
About a week after the "accident" a source came forward with printout pages that showed Carl Muggli had been having an online love affair with an Alabama woman using the social networking site Facebook.
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents confiscated Muggli's computer and uncovered Facebook messages that were exchanged between Mugglie and his mistress for about a month prior to Linda Muggli's death.
"I love you with all my being, I want us together to live our lives as we seek. For I am with you," Muggli allegedly wrote the woman. "I am yours. We are one."
On November 28, Muggli wrote: "I love you Eveningstar, we'll get through this, I love you, house just got full again, will call soon."
Muggli also began emailing Realtors in Texas - looking for "a country home on 5 or more acres to rent or lease."
A few hours after his wife's memorial service, Muggli allegedly sent his girlfriend a link to a property he had found in Palestine, Texas. She responded by stating "This is good, follow your heart as I have been doing. I love you baby - call when you can, Hugs and Kisses, holding you tight, I will not let you go, love you my husband."
Investigators went back to the couple's garage and tried to re-create the accident. After at least 5 attempts, detectives were unable to get the 17-foot-tall pole to fall in the manner Muggli described it.
Detectives also inspected the pole that killed Linda Muggli and discovered that it had been coated with polyurethane in an effort to cover up evidence.
In May, the woman in Alabama told authorities that she was on the phone with Muggli when she overheard him arguing with his wife about getting a divorce. Muggli reportedly called her back about 30 minutes later stating that there had been an accident and emergency crews had arrived to help his wife.
Seven months after Linda Mugglie's death, Carl Muggli was arrested in Stockdale, Texas. He now awaits extradition back to Minnesota where he faces one count of second-degree murder.

PEEP SHOW

Fullerton, CA (SafeCITY) - Trevor Harwell, a 20-year-old computer technician was jailed after he allegedly photographed women undressing and showering by turning their laptop computers into peep show devices.
According to Fullerton police, an investigation was launched after detectives received a complaint from a customer stating that a suspicious message kept popping up on his daughter's Macintosh computer.
"Try putting your laptop near hot steam for several minutes to clean sensor," stated the message.
Investigators later learned that Harwell, a technician for Rezitech Inc., allegedly installed software on dozens of laptop computers which allowed him to control the computers' webcam.
The software would allow Harwell to remotely activate the camera, take photographs and then upload the image to a server where Harwell could then retrieve the images.
Harwell then activated software on the victim's computer which would pop up a message - cloaked as a Mac OS X system message - stating that the computer's internal sensor needed repair.
The message then recommended placing the computer in a steam environment to help clean the sensor. Victims reportedly bit on the suggestion, dragging their laptops into the bathroom while they undressed and then showered.
Harwell's actions quickly unraveled when investigators searched his computers and found thousands of images that showed women in various states of undress.
Investigators say that Harwell was formerly a student at Biola University and that many of his identified victims were also students from the school.
Harwell was booked into jail on 12 felony counts of computer access and fraud. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

GOOSE HEAD

Barry Sinfield, a 36-year-old man, was sentenced to 25 weeks in jail after he ripped the head off a goose and then chased people around a crowded park with it.
According to Court testimony, Sinfield swung the Canadian Goose around by its head before throwing it to the ground and repeatedly kicking it. He then trapped the bird's neck against the ground with his foot and used both hands to pull its head off.
Investigators say Sinfield had consumed up to 20 cans of strong lager with a friend when he spotted the goose at Coventry's Swanson Park October 20.
After Sinfield pulled the bird's head off, he laughed and chased his friend around the park with it. He pointed the head at several passers-by and threatened to smear them with blood.
'The goose was trying to get away. The man was stamping on the goose's neck,” said 16-year-old witness Charlotte White. “I could see the goose was still moving its body. The man started to move his foot along the goose's neck. By this time I was crying and people around me were saying how sick the man was. Even now I break into tears when I think about it."
A vet estimated that the bird would have suffered for up to four minutes of pain before eventually dying.
Sinfield was photographed laughing with friends outside the court before the hearing.
Chairman of the bench Dave Sykes said: "The bench has decided that this case was so serious that the defendant must be sent to prison today."
Sinfield admitted to causing the animal unnecessary suffering before starting his 25 week sentence. He was also banned from owning animals for life.

In 2004, he was arrested for stabbing his wife, her 13-month-old daughter, and their 4-year-old, ripping the hearts out of his victims. He stabbed himself, before confessing to police. He was convicted in the death of the boy.
After the Dec. 9 incident, Thomas was transferred to the East Texas Medical Center's Jester Unit, a prison psychiatric unit.
"He will finally be able to receive the mental health care that we had wanted and begged for from day 1," his lawyer, Bobbie Peterson-Cate, told a local paper. "He is insane and mentally ill. It is exactly the same reason he pulled out the last one."

OLIVE OILED

Responding to a call about a naked guy sunbathing, cops in Mishawaka, Indiana arrived at a local park recently to discover a smiling Michael Donte Booth in the altogether. His nudity “was deliberate and not a wardrobe malfunction,” police concluded
A survey of the crime scene determined that Booth’s shorts and underwear were several feet away from the blanket upon which he was laying on his back “with his entire genitals showing.” Nearby, officers found the book “Gay Power,” a “Kroger bottle of extra virgin olive oil,” two cans of Miller beer, and Marlboro cigarettes.
“Sweating all over his body,” Booth, 26, appeared to have drizzled himself with the olive oil. While his clothes smelled of marijuana, no contraband was recovered by cops, who noted that the suspect was “acting very unusual.”
Along with public indecency and public intoxicaton charges, Booth was hit with a third misdemeanor count, “false informing,” for initially lying to officers about his identity. He is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail in lieu of $200 bond
