Changchun, China (SafeCITY) - A 22-year-old woman identified only as "Miss Li" was pulled to safety after she threatened to jump from a seventh-story window after her fiance dumped her days before the wedding and married someone else.

Miss Li, a college student who wore a wedding gown during the ordeal, sat crying on the window ledge for over an hour before police arrived on the scene.

Li reportedly threatened to jump, telling witnesses that should could not live knowing that her fiance abandoned her to marry another woman just a few days before they were to be married.

Police and other witnesses rushed to the jilted bride's floor after she dropped a purse that contained her cell phone and other items. As officers entered the room, Li pushed herself off the ledge.

Community officer, Guo Zhongfan caught Li by her neck as she dangled above a crowd of more than 100 onlookers. Li was then hoisted up to the window, packed into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.

"I am the director of the Xinfa Community Administration Office," said Zhongfan following the rescue. "I did what anyone would have done."
