STEALING CAR

New Port Richey, Fla. (SafeCITY) - Cody Sapien, a 22-year-old Florida man was jailed after he allegedly grabbed a golf club, attacked a neighbor's home and declared "Hey, I'm stealing your car!"

According to New Port Richey Police, Sapien entered a neighbor's garage, grabbed a golf club and went a little crazy.

Investigators say Sapien went to the front door of the home and pounded the glass with the club, shouting "I'm stealing your car."

Sapien was met at the door by the "father of the residence" who instructed family members to get his gun.

Sapien reportedly swung the club at an unidentified victim, but missed.

When an officer arrived on the scene, Sapien tried to flee the home, but was ordered to the ground by the officer.

When the officer tried to handcuff Sapien, he resisted and struggled to break free. The victim then assisted the officer in restraining Sapien until backup units arrived.

When investigators asked Sapien what he was doing, he replied by stating "I don't have any money - I was trying to steal the car."

Sapien was booked into the Pasco County Jail on charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $160,000.

  1. He didn't know what he was doing. He was on some serious medication that had horrible side effects and had been switched up a few times in the weeks prior to this. Because he has no health insurance the medicine that was working was no longer available and the doctors had not found an adequate substitute. He really had no clue why or what he was doing and the consequences of his actions in any way. He didn't end up hurting anyone or stealing anything.
