STUCK IN VENT

Rotterdam, New York (SafeCITY) - Timothy Cipriani, a 46-year-old New York man was jailed early after he allegedly got stuck an exhaust vent while trying to burglarize a pizza shop.

According to Rotterdam police, Cipriani was pleading for help when he was found hanging from an exhaust shaft above the crackling sounds of a pizza shop fryer. When he was finally rescued from the shaft, his clothes, face and hair were covered in grease.

"The fryer had been used all day, so it may have been generating some heat," said police Lt. Michael Brown.

Investigators say Cipriani climbed a tree next to the building, jumped onto the roof and then attempted to climb into the restaurant through an exhaust shaft. Police and fire responders were alerted when Cipriani broke a pipe that makes up part of the restaurant's fire extinguishing system.

Cipriani was booked into the Schenectady County Jail on charges of burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools. His bail has been set at $20,000.

According to court records, Cipriani has served five prison sentence terms for burglary or attempted burglary since 1992.
