FREE HAIR CUT

Milwaukee, OR (SafeCITY) - Jared Weston Walter, a 22-year-old Milwaukee man was jailed after he allegedly attempted to cut off a woman’s hair on a Tri-Met bus.

According to Tri-Met police, Walter was sitting behind a woman on Tri-Met bus No. 33 on New Year’s Eve when he secretly snipped off a few chunks of her hair with a pair of scissors.

The woman did not realize that her hair had been cut until she and Walter stepped off the bus at the Milwaukee Transit Center. She quickly notified officers who caught up with Walter and took him into custody.

Walter was cited just days prior for not having proper fare to ride a bus, according to investigators.

Tri-Met authorities state that three similar incidents have been reported in the last six weeks where women have had their hair cut or even super-glued. Walter is considered a suspect in those cases as well.

Walter was booked into jail and charged with third-degree robbery, interfering with public transit, second degree disorderly conduct, and harassment. He appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court Monday and pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Walter has prior convictions in Texas for burglary with intent to commit a sex crime. He also has an outstanding warrant in King County, WA in connection to another hair-gluing incident.
