Willimantic, Connecticut (SafeCITY) - Adam Friedman, a 46-year-old school teacher from Newington charged with sexually abusing 15-year-old begged judge for castration instead of jail sentence.
According to Willimantic police, Friedman was an instructor at the Arts at the Capitol Theater magnet school in Willimantic when he reportedly had multiple sexual encounters with a student at motels and at her grandparent's homE. He was initially arrested for sexually abusing the teen last December.
Investigators say Friedman was released, then apprehended again in 2010 after violating his no-contact court order with the victim. He was formally sentenced December 2nd, 2010.
During the court hearing, Friedman begged the judge to order castration instead of jail time, stating that "prison was killing him." The judge refused his request.
Friedman plead guilty to second-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, possession of child pornography and violation of conditions of release. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
