GRAZED HEAD

Portland, Oregon (SafeCITY) - Adam Berndt, a 23-year-old Portland man, was arrested after he allegedly fired a shot at cops, and cops fired a shot back that came hair-raisingly close putting Berndt out of his misery. The mugshot to the right, however, was the result.

According to the US Marshall's Office, a grand jury issued a secret indictment of Berndt so US Marshall's attempted to pick him up.

When officers arrived at Berndt's residence, Berndt allegedly opened the door and came out firing at officers.

Police say no officers were injured but they fired shots back at Berndt which struck his ear and grazed his head.

Berndt spent a month in critical condition at a local hospital before being taken to jail on his charges, investigators say.

Berndt was allegedly wanted in connection with the shooting of 29-year-old Steven McKnight and a parole violation..

Berndt plead not guilty before a Multnomah County judge, the day after his release from the hospital, to two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
