HOMELESS CREW

Gadson, Alabama (SafeCITY) - Evan Francis Brown, a 20-year-old self-proclaimed "vampire" also known as "Vamp" was jailed after he allegedly burned a "V" into a 17-year-old's forehead.

According to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office, In October, Brown and others belonging to a group called "The Homeless Crew" were hanging out at Brown's residence when he heated up a fork or a spoon on a stove and then branded a "V" into the victim's forehead.

Investigators say Brown tied the teen up, making him believe that they were playing some sort of game, before inflicting the burn.

The victim, who was beaten, had what appeared to be cigarette burns on his arms and face. He was left in agony for over an hour until others at the house took him to a local hospital. Brown told authorities that he practices satanism, and that he was a vampire.

At the residence, police found satanic symbols spray-painted on the walls, and a book about witchcraft that appeared to have been stolen from a local library.

Brown was booked into jail and charged with felony second-degree assault. He was released after posting $2,500 bond.

Police say Brown had worked at a local haunted house during the Halloween season, writing on his job application that he "looked creepy, enjoyed scaring people."
