DEER BLOOD

Bridgeton, New Jersey (SafeCITY) - Robert Eisele, a 42-year-old Millville man was jailed after he fled from the scene of a fatal accident, then smeared deer blood on his vehicle in an attempt to hide evidence.

According to police, Eisele fatally struck 36-year-old Edward M. Morrison of Commercial Township on December 15th before fleeing the scene.

It is believed that the victim had been lying injured on the side of the road for approximately 30 minutes before he was found and then taken to South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center - where he died of his injuries.

Investigators say an anonymous tipster contacted authorities after noticing the damage on Eisele's car. Detectives arrested Eisele a day after the accident, then impounded his car for evidence. That's when they discovered Eisele had smeared deer blood on the vehicle in an alleged attempt to cover up the accident.

Eisele was booked into jail and charged with leaving the scene of an accident after causing the death of another person, a second-degree crime. He was also charged with obstruction of justice and tapering with evidence. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Officers say Eisele has had two previous DWI tickets from 1995, but there was no evidence that he was under the influence of alcohol in this incident
