HANDS & KNEES


Bangor, Maine (SafeCITY) - William E. Gordius, a 53-year-old Bangor registered sex offender, was arrested after he was caught on his hands and knees looking under a bathroom stall.

According to Bangor police, a woman was attempting to use a restroom at the Pickering Square parking garage when she found Gordius on his hands and knees peeking at women who occupied bathroom stalls.

The woman, a BAT Community Connector employee, was leaving the bathroom when she reportedly saw Gordius crawling on the floor, attempting to look under the stall door.

Investigators say she quickly exited the bathroom and locked the door behind her using a key that had been issued to her by her employer. Gordius remain trapped inside the bathroom until police could arrive.

Gordius is a registered sex offender from a 1987 charge for gross sexual misconduct and unlawful sexual contact.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison (four of them suspended) for the misconduct charge and two years in prison for the unlawful sexual contact charge. His victims involved children who were between 3 and 14 years old.

Gordius was booked into the Penobscot County Jail and charged with violation of privacy. He was released after posting a $2000 bond.

Gordius also has prior convictions that include the sale or use of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, violating condition of release, forgery, criminal trespass and obstructing public roadways.
