Dallas, Texas (SafeCITY) - Daniel Wayne Staley, an 18-year-old Texas man was arrested after he allegedly dug up a corpse and then hacked off it's foot.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the Pleasant Mound Cemetery after a witness called 911 to report a man's suspicious activity in and around a grave site.
When police arrived on scene around 3:30 am, Staley approached the officers and told them that he had a human foot in his bag. He then reportedly pulled out the foot and showed it to the officers.
"I dug it up from a nearby grave and took it from a jew girl because I wanted a foot," he reportedly told the police.
Staley then led officers to the grave and identified the corpse. Police believe the deceased victim to be Leibe Vener, who died in 1941.
Staley's mother says her son suffers from bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia - and is concerned because he refuses to take medications.
"He's ready to get out of jail so he can do something worse," she said. "He thinks it's funny."
"We've all tried to get him help," she continued. "The problem is that the help is only temporary and he's released again. and someone with this kind of illness can't be released and expected to take care of himself. He's not going to take care of himself. He has no control over his mind."
Staley was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a charge of theft of a human corpse/grave. His Bail was set at $10,000.
He also faces a misdemeanor count of making a terroristic threat for a March 15th incident in which he allegedly told a sales manager that he would "blow up this building and kill everyone."
Staley later told investigators that he was thinking about setting his mother on fire by pouring gasoline on her.
