LITTLE NUTS

River Falls, WI (SafeCITY) – Nicholas Leigh Tretter, a 29-year-old River Falls man was jailed after he allegedly stabbed a man in Minneapolis on Christmas to “see what it felt like."

According to Hennepin County police, Tretter followed a man off a transit bus, ran up and started stabbing him from behind.

The victim, who was on his way to a friend’s house, fell on the sidewalk and Tretter continued stabbing until the man’s friend came outside and started yelling for help.

The victim was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he received treatment for stab wounds on his back and side, defensive cuts and scrapes, and a 4 to 6 inch long cut on the left side of his neck. He was later released.

Tretter walked into Washington County Jail and told the staff members that he had stabbed a man in Minneapolis a night earlier. He was taken into custody.

According to family members, Tretter has a history of mental illness and becomes violent when he refuses to take his medication. His friends said he was a little nutty.

Tretter was booked into Washington County Jail and charged with second degree assault. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
