SMILE - U R ON POTTYCAM

Elgin, Illinois (SafeCITY) - Migual Bribiescas, a 25-year-old Illinois man pleaded guiltY to charges of hiding a spy camera inside the women's restroom at his place of work.

According to police, Bribiescas hid a pen-sized video camera in the women's room at Ridgefield Industries where he is (was) employed.

Investigators say a co-worker was recorded using the facilities before the camera was discovered and then turned over to police. Police say video retrieved from the device showed Bribiescas looking into the lens while attempting to figure out how the camera worked.

Bribiescas pleaded guilty to a charge of unauthorized video recording. The case now moves onto the sentencing phase where Bribiescas now faces up to three years in jail.

Bribiescas' attorney, Mary Baccam, said she believes probation would be a fair sentence considering Bribiescas lack of criminal history.

"He understands that this was inappropriate and he is taking responsibility for his actions," said Baccam.

Briebiescas was released after posting a $1,000 bond. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 20.
