St. Clair Shores, Michigan – Mark Curcuru, 30, admits to exposing himself to a 12-year-old girl, but has given police a unique excuse as to why he shouldn't be made to serve his time – he has a kidney to donate.
Police say Curcuru pleaded guilty to masturbating in front of a 12-year-old girl in August but, post-sentencing, stated he can’t serve the time because his dying father needs his kidney.
According to court documents, Curcuru is a registered sex offender with a prior conviction of 4th degree sexual assault involving a minor between 13 and 16.
In March, the young girl was skating near her home when Curcuru pulled up in front of her, dropped his pants and began masturbating in front of her. The girl went home and told her father, who got into his car and followed Curcuru.
The most recent charge earned him a 3-5 year sentence, but now Curcuru is claiming that he is unable to pay his debt to society until he donates his kidney to his father, who is dying of kidney failure.
Curcuru is currently on an electronic tether, but still lives close to the victim. He is scheduled to turn himself in to the Macomb County Jail on November 1st.
