CARE FOR A COOKIE?

Wakulla County, Florida (SafeCITY) – Alga Dale Sanders, 18, may have been a little dazed and confused after his recent arrest – Probably because he was arrested on charges that he laced brownies with marijuana and then handed them out to students and teachers at school.

According to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Sanders allegedly baked marijuana into a batch of brownies and brought them to school, resulting in one student being taken to the hospital and a teacher going to a medical clinic.

Authorities say a teacher suspected that Sander's brownies contained a drug and contacted School Resource Officer Brad Taylor.

While Taylor was examining the brownies, a student who had ingested one collapsed outside his office. The student was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Sgt. Bruce Ashley says Deputy Taylor’s tests later came back positive for marijuana. The parents’ of the rest of the students were notified and the students were sent home.

Authorities say Sanders admitted he had boiled a bud of marijuana into the brownie mix and took them to school Tuesday to hand out in celebration of his last day at the school. He also told investigators that he thought the incident would be funny.

Sanders was booked in to Wakulla County Jail on nine felony counts of poisoning food or water. Bond information was not available.
