CAN YOU SPARE A QUARTER?

Murfreesboro, Tennessee (SafeCITY) - Angela Strube, 30, a 3rd-grade teacher at Cason Lane Academy in Murfreesboro was arrested after she allegedly stole lunch money from several of her students. Murfreesboro is my (Max Cannon) hometown.

According to police, Strube stole money from her students by removing cash from envelopes that had been given to the school for her students' lunch.

Investigators began looking into the case Sept 14 after principal Chad Fletcher reported that cash was missing from the school's lunch and Smart Card funds.

According to the arrest report, Strube reportedly accounted for the money before it turned up missing on it's way to the lunchroom.

Detectives say Strube admitted to taking the money. She has since been suspended from the school without pay pending the outcome of the case.

"We are glad to make an arrest in this case," said police spokesman, Kyle Evans. "Anytime you have an authority figure you trust stealing from the most vulnerable is a sad situation."

Strube was booked into jail on a charge of theft under $500. Authorities are still conducting interviews and will raise the charge to a felony if the amount of lost funds is found to have exceeded $500.
