ON THE TOILET

Akron, Ohio (SafeCITY) - Cory Buckley, a 22-year-old Akron man was jailed after he allegedly broke into and elderly woman's home wearing a clown mask - and then robbed her while she was on the toilet.

According to Akron police, 70-year-old Jacqueline Cutright was using the bathroom at her home around 2:00 a.m. when a man wearing a clown mask reportedly broke a window and entered her home.

When she spotted him, she saw that he was holding a five to eight inch hunting knife. When she asked him what he wanted, he reportedly demanded "Oxycontin and money."

"Boy did you come to the wrong place," said Cutright as she recounted the event. "He just said 'stay in the bathroom and I won't hurt you.' And I said 'that works for me.'"

Investigators say Buckley ransacked the victim's home for almost two hours, forcing her to stay in the bathroom the entire time. He took $28 out of her purse and stole about $1,000 worth of costume jewelery.

The woman stated that Buckley was actually polite, even calling her "ma'am" on a few occasions. He even returned a silver bracelet to her, with an inscription that read "A mother holds her children's hands for a while but their hearts forever."

When Buckley was finished burglarizing the home, he reportedly fled in the woman's 1991 Ford Escort.

Investigators say Buckley only made it to the end of the street before rolling the car twice and then crawling out through a window. He reportedly confessed to the crime after a knife dropped out of his pants onto the pavement and officers found the mask he wore during the burglary.

Buckley was booked into jail on numerous charges including robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and theft.
