GOOD NEWS

Orlando, Florida (SafeCITY) - Tyler Weisman, a 54-year-old convicted sex offender, was hospitalized and may face jail time after he was beaten and then tortured with a blow torch.

According to police reports, Weisman was out looking for a prostitute when he was lured into a home with the prospect of getting lucky.

He turned down the services of a crack smoking prostitute but became intrigued when the ex-con who lured him inside the home offered him a younger girl.

Police say the ex-con, Albert Brooks, thought Weisman was an undercover cop so he left the room and returned with an aerosol can and a lighter.

Brooks used his make-shift flame thrower to burn the side of Weisman's face, authorities say. Weisman was able to escape after being beaten over the head, losing his hearing aids, glasses, and having $75 stolen.

Weisman was convicted last year of molesting an 11-year-old girl. He spent one year in jail and received 20 years probation, according to records.

No charges have been filed against Weisman, but he is now under investigation for possible parole violation. Court records indicate Weisman was ordered to wear a GPS device and was given a 10 pm to 6 a.m. curfew.

Terms of his probation also include not associating with criminals or visiting places where intoxicants and illegal drugs are used.
Brooks was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and robbery with a weapon. He remains in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,300 bond.
