BEER RUN

Lank O’ Lakes, Florida (SafeCITY) – Heath Cannon, a 43-year-old Florida man was arrested after he was allegedly caught driving a stolen tractor while engaged in a beer run.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, a deputy pulled Cannon over while he was driving a stolen Massey Ferguson box blade tractor. The tractor had been reported stolen from a roadside construction site.

Investigators say Cannon rode his bicycle from his home to the construction site, tied his bike onto the tractor and took off to the store to buy more beer.

Cannon reportedly told deputies that a friend asked him to pick up the tractor after receiving a flat tire. Deputies couldn't get in touch with Cannon's friend and told him the tractor belonged to a construction company - not an individual.

"Oh, I didn't know," Cannon said. "I'm sorry I drove the tractor to the RaceTrac to buy a beer.”

The $15,000 tractor he was operating, however, was reportedly started with a generic key and a screwdriver.

Cannon was booked into the Land O'Lakes jail on charges of grand theft and possession of burglary tools with intent to use. His bond was set at $10,000.

Prior arrests include domestic battery, theft, prowling and multiple probation violations.
