NICOTINE FIT

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (SafeCITY) - Courtney Smith, a 24-year-old Oklahoma City woman was jailed after she allegedly attacked a store clerk because she was unhappy with the price of cigarettes.

According to Oklahoma City police, Smith entered the Goodie's convenience store with two other people last week and asked the store clerk for a pack of cigarettes.

The clerk reported that when she told Smith the pack was $6.25, she became angry and belligerent. She pushed the items that were displayed on the store's counter top onto the floor then walked out of the store.

Investigators say the clerk followed Smith out of the store and attempted to write down the license plate number for the car she intended to flee in. In retaliation, Smith physically attacked the clerk and fled the scene. The clerk was not seriously injured.

Officers found Smith in the same car about 2 hours later and she was arrested. A loaded pistol was also found inside the vehicle.

She was booked into jail on charges of assault and battery and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. She is being held in lieu of $8,500.

Court records show that Smith has several previous felony convictions in Oklahoma County that include assault and battery and assault and battery on a police officer.
