CROWN ROYAL

Cross Lanes, West Virginia (SafeCITY) - Tiffany Hodges, a 29-year-old West Virginia woman was jailed after she fought with a bottle of Crown Royal and lost, leaving an 11-month-old baby unattended.

According to the Kanawha Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Hodges' home Friday after receiving an anonymous tip that she might be under the influence with an 11-month-old child in the house.

When deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene, they could hear a child crying inside the residence, however they couldn't get anyone to open the door. Investigators entered the residence and found Hodges passed out or highly intoxicated, while a baby was left crying in his crib.

Investigators say the residence itself was strewn with dirty clothes, garbage and soiled garbage. The child was taken into protective custody and later placed with a family member. Hodges was also taken into custody, but apparently not without a fight.

Hodges allegedly kicked a deputy repeatedly in the leg and chest as she was placed in handcuffs and carried to the patrol car.

She was booked into jail on charges of felony child neglect and battery on a police officer.
