CLOCK & CHAIRS

Newport Township, PA (SafeCITY) - Jarrett Edmonds, a 28-year-old Pennsylvania man was jailed after he beat his girlfriend with a clock and folding chairs because she didn't ask to use the bathroom.

According to police, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in Newport Township around 6 a.m. after receiving a report of an alleged beating.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Crystal Wetzel who was nursing multiple injuries to her head and arms. A medical examination would later reveal that she was suffering from deep lacerations to hear head, a broken nose and bruising to her arms and shoulders.

Investigators say Wetzel told them Edmonds became enraged when she used the bathroom without his permission.

Edmonds allegedly began beating her with a digital alarm clock. He then picked up two folding chairs and began beating her head, shoulders, face and torso with them.

When the woman tried to leave, Edmonds blocked her exit and wouldn't allow her to call for an ambulance. He then reportedly tried to make her stand naked outside in the cold in an effort to "embarrass her," according to the arrest affidavit.

The woman eventually fled the residence and called police from a friend's house. Police found two folding chairs and an alarm clock that were covered with blood at the scene

Edmonds was booked into the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, false imprisonment, harassment and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $75,000.
