CHEWED A HOLE

New Port Richey, Florida (SafeCITY) - Jesse Ray Stewart, an 18-year-old New Port Richey man is facing charges after he allegedly chewed a hole into a police cruiser seat while being transported to jail for another incident.

According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, Stewart was discovered in a mini-van by the owner, who called police. Stewart fled on foot, but was tracked by a pink cell phone that he had stolen from another vehicle in the same neighborhood.

Investigators say when officers apprehended Stewart, his speech was slurred, he was stumbling, and he smelled of alcohol.

He continued to be uncooperative while being transported to jail, banging his head on the windows on the patrol car. He also ripped up part of the seat with his teeth, exposing the stuffing and causing an estimated $300 in damages. The chewed up bits of seat were collected as evidence.

Stewart was booked into the Pasco County Jail and charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief and two counts of auto burglary. He is being held in lieu of $10,300 bail.
