Carlisle, Pennsylvania (SafeCITY) - Scott T. Shover, a 53-year-old Carlisle man was jailed after he allegedly opened several packages of raw meat at a local Walmart, ate portions of each, then put them back on the shelf and exited the store.
According to Carlisle police, a loss prevention officer at the Carlisle Walmart alerted police after he witnessed Shover grab a package each of raw beef stew meat and ground hamburger, open the packages, and consume some of the raw meat. He then placed the open packages back on the shelf and walked out of the store.
An officer, who was in the store's parking lot, spotted Shover as he left the store.
Shover was booked into Cumberland County Prison and charged with retail theft. The charge will be considered a felony due to four previous retail theft charges.
