DUMB & DUMBER

Radnor, Pennsylvania (SafeCITY) - Rocket scientists Jeffrey Olson, 21, and Ryan Letchford, 22, were jailed after they allegedly broke into a police van, accidentally locked themselves in and had to call 911 to be rescued.

According to Radnor police, the Olson and Letchford left a party and then broke into a police officer's van to take photos of themselves pretending to get arrested. At some point the two men realized that they had locked themselves inside the van and proceeded to smoke cigarettes and spit on the van's interior to pass the time.

Investigators say a drunk friend from the party arrived to rescue the men from the van, but was also unable to figure out how to get the doors unlocked. Baffled by the vehicle's locking system, the friend called 911 for help.

Police arrived to discover the two boys had damaged the van's interior while attempting to kick through the metal cage that separates the driver's cab from the rest of the van.

"I came down and unlocked the door, and 'Dumb and Dumber' pranced out of the van," said Constable Mike Conner. "It was un-freaking-believable."

Both men were charged with theft, public drunkenness and criminal mischief. They were released after posting bail later the same day.
