TWO A DAY


LaFayette, New York (SafeCITY) - John Simister, a 51-year-old Milford, Connecticut man was jailed after he allegedly received two DUI charges over a ten hour period.

According to the New York Highway Patrol, troopers stopped Simister at 12:17 Monday after he was observed driving 80 mph on Interstate 81. He was given a breathalyzer test, and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.19. He was charged with DUI and then released to a sober third party.

Investigators say at 10:20 p.m. the same day, an off-duty officer spotted Simister drinking alcohol inside his vehicle, which was parked outside the Nice and Easy convenience store. Officers were called to the scene, but when they tried to stop Simister, he attempted to flee in his vehicle. After a brief pursuit, Simister stopped in a driveway and was apprehended. He was again given a breathalyzer test which resulted in a .017 BAC level.

Simister was booked into the Onondaga County Justice Center and was charged with failure to comply, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, failure to keep right and DWI.
