WALKING FUNNY

Punta Gorda, Florida (SafeCITY) - Elizabeth Lafleur, 20 and Salvatore Zambuto, 22, were jailed after a deputy found drugs in the couple's car - but the real fun didn't start until Zambuto began "walking funny" when he got to jail.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol became suspicious when he saw Zambuto slouching down in the front passenger seat of a car as the vehicle passed him.

The deputy stopped the vehicle and questioned Zambuto, who had two felony warrants out for his arrest. Zambuto reportedly told the deputy that he was on his way to jail to turn himself in.

The driver, Elizabeth Lafleur, didn't have any warrants for her arrest, however the deputy found syringes, spoons and Xanax pills in the vehicle, without a prescription for the Xanax.

While Zambuto was being processed into jail, deputies noticed that he was "walking awkwardly" after he asked to use the bathroom. Because of his strange behavior, deputies checked the bathroom to find Zambuto on the bathroom floor next to the toilet, along with three Suboxone pills and two grams of marijuana packed inside the tied off finger of a latex glove.

When deputies performed a strip search, they found another latex glove finger containing tobacco inserted inside Zambuto's rectum.

Zambuto, who has a history of drug and theft related arrests, was booked into the Charlotte County Jail on charges of introducing contraband into a corrections facility, possession of Suboxen, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the two felony warrants he was originally charged with.

Lafleur, who has a history of burglary, battery and theft related arrests, was booked into jail on a charge of possessing Xanax. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
