Indiantown, Florida (SafeCITY) - Fernando Cruz, a 32-year-old Florida man was jailed earlier this month after he allegedly beat his wife with a wooden bat because she had "eaten all the fries."
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was dispatched to the couple's trailer home on a report of a domestic dispute in progress that involved the use of a bat.
Investigators say the deputy arrived to find Cruz' 51-year-old wife who claimed Cruz had beaten her repeatedly with a 12" bat because she "ate all the french fries."
She stated that Cruz began to yell and curse and throw things around the trailer they lived in. When she tried to leave, Cruz locked the door and threw her onto the bed. Each time she tried to leave, Cruz allegedly struck the woman on the leg with the bat and locked the door again.
The victim reportedly refused to be examined by rescue workers and noted that she did not wish to press charges.
Cruz has been arrested on domestic violence charges on four prior occasions, however in each instance the woman reportedly refused to prosecute, according to the arrest affidavit.
Cruz, who smelled of alcohol at the time of his arrest, was booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of false imprisonment with a weapon and battery -domestic violence.
