St Augustine, Fla. (SafeCITY) - Brian Breeze Croton, a 31-year-old Florida man was jailed after he ran from deputies into the woods where he covered his body with mud (like Rambo) in attempt to evade arrest.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Croton met with deputies at a local McDonald's to discuss a recent theft case he reportedly witnessed.

Investigators say deputies were interviewing Croton when a report came back that he had a warrant for his arrest after failing to appear in court on charges of grand theft and driving on a suspended license.

When deputies prepared to take Croton into custody, Croton asked deputies if he could first speak with his father, who has Crohn's disease. Deputies agreed to the request and released his handcuffs temporarily because he Croton appeared to be cooperative.

Deputies allowed Croton to make a call from a nearby payphone with a warning that if he "did anything crazy" he would be facing additional charges.

Once the cuffs were off, deputies say Croton fled the scene into a nearby wooded area. Croton was apprehended about 20 minutes later hiding under a patch of tree roots with mud smeared on his body "from head to toe," according to the arrest report.

Croton was booked into the St. Johns County Jail on three counts of failure to appear and one count of escape. He remains incarcerated without bond due to his charges of failing to appear.
