I LOVE WEED

East Hampton, Conn. (SafeCITY) - Julie Root, a 27-year-old Connecticut woman, was jailed after her two toddlers were found playing in the woods for hours, wearing nothing but diapers.

According to North Hampton police, officers were dispatched after a neighbor noticed the two boys, aged two and three, playing alone in the rain in a wooded area next to the highway. The neighbor estimated the children had been left alone for at least an hour.

Investigators say they arrived to find the two toddlers walking alone in the woods, wearing nothing but diapers. They were wet and described as "freezing cold" from the cool, rainy weather.

While officers were ascertaining the children's identities, Root reportedly walked up and informed them that she had just returned from work and had "possibly" fallen asleep, allowing the children to slip out the door unsupervised.

She reportedly went on to tell police she was under the influence of prescription pain medication. The boy's father was also home, however he had reportedly been sleeping when the kids fled the scene.

Root, who modeled an I Love Weed California T-Shirt for her mug shot, was booked into jail on two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of reckless endangerment.

No report was given as to what kind of "prescription" pain medication the woman had taken earlier that day.
