Morrow, GA (SafeCITY) - William C. Caldwell III, a 45-year-old Morrow man was jailed after he allegedly dressed as an elf and told a mall Santa that he had explosives.
According to Morrow police, Caldwell got in line at the Southlake Mall in Atlanta Wednesday evening dressed as an elf to have his picture taken with Santa.
When Caldwell reached Santa, he claimed that he had dynamite in his bag. Santa told him that he was a naughty boy and promptly called mall security.
The mall was evacuated, but no explosives were found.
Caldwell was not part of the mall’s staff. He just dressed like an elf because he wanted to.
Caldwell is being held without bond in the Clayton County jail on charges of having hoax devices and making terrorist threats.
