JOY STICKUP

St. Petersburg, Florida (SafeCITY) - Cameron Pittman, a 20-year-old St. Petersburg man was jailed after he allegedly attempted to rob a convenience store with a PlayStation joy stick game controller.

According to St. Petersburg police, an officer walked into the Sun Food store as Pittman was attempting to rob it using a PlayStation controller hidden in his pants pocket to look like a gun. Pittman immediately dropped the controller and surrendered to the officer.

Investigators say Pittman was a suspect in a previous robbery at a local Subway restaurant. Detectives received a tip stating that Pittman may possibly have plans to rob the convenience store as well, so an officer went to the store and caught him in the act.

Pittman was booked into jail on two counts of robbery, dealing in stolen property and cocaine possession.

His prior arrests include resisting arrest, dealing in stolen property, theft, battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana.
